William Nott (1782-1845) Carmarthen/Wales
Welsh officer of the East India Company, later Major General in the British Army.
WHO ALSO commanded British forces during the First Anglo-Afghan War (1839–1842). His campaigns formed part of Britain’s attempt to expand and secure imperial influence in Afghanistan, a conflict that brought large-scale destruction and significant loss of life to the region.
