Robert Peel (1788-1850) Bury/England
English Conservative statesman, 2-time Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
His family wealth came from slavery: his father was actively pro-slavery and circulated a pro-slavery petition in 1806, the year before the abolition of the slave trade. With his father’s money, a parliamentary seat was found for him as soon as he came of age, in 1809.
