John Laird Mair Lawrence (1811-1879) London/England
British statesman and colonial administrator, later Viceroy and Governor-General of India.
WHO ALSO played an important administrative role during and after the suppression of the Indian Rebellion of 1857. As a senior British official in the Punjab, he helped organise the colonial response to the uprising, contributing to the consolidation of British rule in India following the conflict.
